Dyk nr: 495, Bocas del toro Panama 2 dives
2 dives with Panama diveschool on Bocas de Toro. Really friendly bunch and the divespots where only a few minutes by boat.
Dive 1: White house
The dive started with a bit of commotion- one of the divers who hadn't dived for a while aborted the dive so at the end we were only 2. The visibility was not great after a week of rain and stormy seas and the divemaster swam like an olympic champ with a quite erratic coockroach like swimpattern so I had to work hard not to loose sight of her. She did however compensate with finding some really cool stuff like seahorses, shrimps, a strange alligatorlike fish, some huge crabs. At the end of the dive, she suddenly dashed down from 10 m to 18m, there was a really cool fenomenon where the water at 18m was much warmer than above, like a reverse "ytskick"
Dive 2: Don't remember the divesite, (lunch? Buffet?)
It was a wreck, an artificial reef, sunk about 20 years ago. An catamaran but with 3 "pillars" instead of 2.
Most of the dive was spent on the coral as a driftdive. As before, there was some quite erratic and frantic swimming going on and I struggled somewhat to find a pattern. (Sort of like Vietnamese driving.)
The wreck was nice- had a swimthrough under it. Saw a ray, a huge number of lobster hiding under a rock, 2 octopuses, the very strange frogfish, some pretty decent corals.
All in all, a pleasant day of diving.
