Learning is something you do--people can help you (a good instructor mentor friend)
Certification is something you buy and own.
Its also how instructors make money. They may coincidently teach you something--then again not.
You can learn on your own--in the case of RB failure to do so may result in death.
You can collect certifications till your head explodes and still manage to learn nothing.
Whats ultimate answer, who knows.
For me I try to learn as much as possible--
I collect the certifications I need to do what I want that I can afford at the time.
Remember its about choice under scarcity--For the cost of a trimix cert I have a compressor and some helium.
For the cost of a RB class I have a mCCR orca, plus the learning opportunity of being forced to "know why"
