I can understand that this system could possibly help reduce the chance of infection in the outer ear by stopping cold water penetrating into the eardrum, But I can't see how it would help equalisation much, since that reuires an equalisation of pressure in the inner ear (i.e. the other side of the ear drum).
I'm no expert in this area, maybe someone with more medical knowledge could comment?
